Performance marketing is a marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates (publishers) for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate’s marketing efforts. AdMarula facilitates this process by providing a system and market place that connects online advertisers and publishers, and by assisting with the tracking, management and administration of the affiliate programs. For more information visit our ‘How it works’ page.
First we discuss what your product/offer/objectives are so we can choose a campaign model or combination that’s just right. Next we discuss your budget or payout rate. It’s important to have an attractive end-user offer, as well as an attractive publisher offer in order to get the best results. Once this is done, we implement and test the tracking and upload the creative. Finally, your program is added to our affiliate area, and before you know it you will start to see results.
As a network, our fee is 30% of the total commission paid to the publisher (an industry standard). For example, if your payout to the publisher is R100 for each sale, then AdMarula’s earnings will be 30% of R100 (R30). The publisher will still receive the full R100.
Once you sign up as an Advertiser, your program/s will be added to our affiliate area where Publishers can view and apply to run one or more programs. In addition, your program will be promoted on our website www.admarula.com under ‘Featured programs’. Once a publisher has been approved, your ad will be displayed on their site and they will be remunerated for the traffic/leads/sales they generate for you. Our affiliates include website owners, e-newsletter distributors and bloggers.
You decide your payout rate upfront. This can either be a flat fee or commission (a % of the total sale value) that you pay the publisher for each action they generate. Remember that the more attractive your offer, the better placements and affiliates you are likely to attract.
When you sign up as an Advertiser you get access to your own secure Advertiser interface where you can manage your account, view your campaign statistics, upload creative etc. You’ll be able to see how many times an ad was displayed or clicked, the CTR (click-through rate) and ECPM (effective CPM which is earnings / impressions x 1,000). It also tracks conversions, top selling products, leads and transactions and much more. Reports can be exported to Excel, PDF, CSV and XML.
To get started we assist you with training, templates and general setup. Your Account Manager is available whenever you have questions, plus we have an excellent technical support team who can deal with any technical queries you may have. We also offer a hosting service for all your creative. Please ask your Account Manager for more information.

No, it’s completely free to join and to participate in any of the programs.
Not necessarily. If you intend to only focus on PPC (Pay-Per-Click) advertising through Google AdWords, Overture or similar you do not need to have a website. If you are planning on only using PPC you should register with Google.co.za as your website, make sure you state clearly that you are doing PPC in the site description. Alternatively you can register your site with just a single landing page explaining what you intend to do so that the Advertisers can clearly understand what you are doing when reviewing your program applications.
It is up to each advertiser (merchant) how much they are willing to pay a publisher for a specific result. As a network we add 30% commission on top of the total commission paid to the publisher (an industry standard). For example, if the advertiser pays the publisher R100 for each sale, AdMarula’s earnings will be 30% of R100 (R30).
AdMarula pays publishers on the 20th of each month with a two-month lag i.e. you will be paid on the 20th August for commissions earned in June. This lag allows us to collect payment from the Advertisers and to validate transactions. Through our online Publisher interface you can view and follow your earnings at any time. In order to get paid you would need to have earned the minimum amount (R500) for that month – otherwise it will be rolled over to the next month and paid out once you have reached this amount.
Our affiliates include website owners, e-newsletter distributors, social influencers, and bloggers.
AdMarula reserves the right to approve or turn down any publisher application. We do not allow sites that display content of a sexual, racist, violent, radical religious and political, or illegal nature, into our network. In addition, advertisers can also approve or deny applications to their programs, themselves.
A cookie (also known as a web cookie, or browser cookie), is a piece of data that is sent to and stored on a user’s web browser in order to authenticate or identify a user’s session or preferences, shopping cart contents, or anything else that can be accomplished through storing text data. The cookie time determines how long the information is stored on the user’s computer. For example a 30-day cookie time means that the sale will still be registered up to 30 days after the user first clicked on the ad. Different merchants will offer different cookie times – this will be specified in the offer.
Yes, you can re-apply once. In order to re-apply you need to add another site to your account. To do this:

AdMarula uses cookies to track advertiser sales and leads. Cookie Tracking is the most popular method to track customers “from click through to order”. When a user clicks on your affiliate link a small text file is written, a “cookie”, to the user’s browser. This cookie holds your affiliate ID, which can be identified at the advertisers order page to credit for referred sales. The cookie that records your affiliate ID can “live” for as long as the advertiser desires, allowing you to get credit for customers who clicked on a link weeks, or months, before finally purchasing or making a repeat purchase.
It is possible to view an overview of your statistics or an in depth analysis of your website statistics through the selection of reports within the AdMarula interface. The reports are located within your account under REPORTS and OTHER REPORTS in the menu on the left hand side. With most of the reports you are able to export the details into “pdf” (Adobe Acrobat) or “xls” (Excel Spreadsheet) format, to do this please select the relevant “View report as:” option.
